Craigslist Love in OKC

Posted in Bloggity by laurencorbyn on March 22, 2010

Inspired by My Favorite and My Best, as I so often am, I’m following suit and posting some Oklahoma Craigslist finds.

A snazzy sofa. Listed at $400, it’s definitely pricey, but it can’t hurt to make a low offer.  The shape is very on trend.  Find some bargain fabric, reupholster and slap some paint on the trim.  You’ll be design-blogger-fabulous in no time.  You could go linen-y and neutral grey, or you could go with black trim and a graphic, bold, striped pattern.  The options are endless.

To make up for the price transgression above, a $1, five foot tall beer sign!  Five feet tall.  A great rustic, commercial, “art piece” to add to a little scale and funk to a more finished, refined space.  Something unexpected.  I’d like it best in a fairly contemporary surround mounted on a white wall.

A pop of red from a twin bed frame, $50.

I’d top it with some black and white bedding, ideally something Madeline Weinrib-esque like

I’m sure anthropologie would have something lovely too if you’re feeling more color.

In case you’re the kind of person who styles your shelves with books you haven’t read, 1900’s law books for $2 each.  They have a nice worn quality to them.

I’m a sucker for a good drop leaf table, $120.  Use it as a sofa table or console on a daily basis, then bust it out as a dining table when you have a party.

An interesting “art deco” chair, $40. Reupholster in a fun color, polish up that chrome and you’re good to go.

And last but certainly not least, some bentwood chairs.  Place with your fake Saarinen table for a dash of domino spirit.

So see, who says Okies’ Craigslist sucks it big time?  Just takes a little patience.
