Lauren Corbyn Interiors Featured on Ava Living!

Posted in Bloggity by laurencorbyn on January 3, 2011

I got a great surprise in my inbox this first workweek of 2011.  Lauren Corbyn Interiors is featured on Ava Living this week!  This is my second feature on Ava Living, a site for both designers and clients.  Thanks Ava!

Here’s a screenshot of my featured project.  The theme on Ava this week is “rustic comfort.”  The living area I designed isn’t super rustic, but has enough texture to qualify.  The fireplace adds to the rustic look with it’s beam mantle and stacked stone facade.  The room was really inspired by Axel Vervoordt’s Belgian style.  We used a lot of linen and natural woods.  The woods can be seen in the rough coffee table (a definite rustic touch) and also the overhead beams.  The sleek dark floors help keep the rustic in check.  Overall, definitely cozy and rustic without being at all country.

Happy New Year to you!  Hopefully I won’t leave you hanging with so few blog posts.  That’s as close as I’m going to get to making any resolutions.  🙂  How about you?

Boomer Sooner in Red and White

Posted in Bloggity by laurencorbyn on October 12, 2009

It’s a short week for OU fans as the annual trek to Dallas usually begins on Friday morning.  I’m heading down with family for the much anticipated OU vs. Texas game this weekend.  It’s a weekend of football, the State Fair of Texas (beer and ridiculous amounts of fried food), shopping and hopefully a win under the Sooners’ belt.

Our traditions seem to surround restaurant choices with a pre-game Friday night dinner at Nobu (yellowtail sashimi with chilies and ponzu? yes please) and a postgame dinner of crab claws and  mushroom pizza at Campisi’s.  Between dinners we will feast on corndogs at the fairgrounds.  I am determined to try something fried that I’ve never had before, though I will avoid the “deep fried butter” I heard was actually at the fair this year.  Gross.

Anyway, in the spirit of fall and football:  my Boomer Sooner inspired color palette:

A little more restrained.  Love those beams.

I LOVE this image! I fell in love with this when House Beautiful printed it last year.  Completely forgot about it until today.  Fabulous and fresh holiday decorating.  And you could do this in so many color palettes.

Not my favorite as I think it’s starting to look a little dated, but the idea of a red kitchen is fun and I like how vertical it is for a small space:

Is that an Ikea bed all fancied up with a canopy and skirt?

I enjoy this quirky style:

This is what I like in a powder bath: a crazy wallpaper, a little glitz, and a cool pedestal sink.

And I’ll leave you with one of my favorite inspirations, Belgian style:
