In Love With Pinterest

pretty sure this is original to Lonny

I LOVE Pinterest because, though I am aware I love a good black and white stripe, and appreciate it equally on a wall or a piece of stationary, it was pretty cool to see these two images pop up near each other.

Pinterest is a virtual pin board where you can post inspirational images organized by category.  You can follow other users, and search images by tags.  I would recommend it to clients to gather images of spaces they love.  It’s such a great way to see trends forming in what you like.

For example, I am noticing that I’m drawn to lots of white and pale colors.  I’m liking cushions without welting, and sofas with long, lean lines–a cush modern kind of a look.

For interior design, it’s  a great way to find the common denominator in what might seems like disparate looks. It’s also just fun to catalog the things I’m loving.  If you have the “collector” gene in you, you’ll love Pinterest.

I may have just solved some rug woes.  Need a runner and a biiiiig rug near each other.  This might do the trick.  A lot of this:

With a little of this:

For reals.

KWID. Schumacher.

I hope you don’t grow weary of my KWID love.  Cause it’s growing.

Classic Black and White Kitchen

Posted in Bloggity by laurencorbyn on September 27, 2009

Joni over at the lovely Cote de Texas posted a reader’s house this weekend that I am kind of loving.  It’s got such a lovely blend of classic with current.  It’s more formal than I live, but there’s a light and ease to it that makes it seem really doable to me.  This is one of my favorite images.  Click on over for the whole house.

Favorites here:

  • fabulous light fixtures
  • lots of white
  • HUGE sink with two faucets
  • mirrored, arched cabinets in black
  • open shelving (could you live with it all laid bare?)
  • black and white photography
  • snazzy nailhead contemporary dining chairs mixed with banquette seating
  • dark wood flooring

P.S. Sorry about the strange formatting!  That picture is ginormous!

Discount Madeline Weinrib!

Oh One Kings Lane.  Why do you taunt me so???  Oh the temptation.

Grey.  Black and White.  Ikat.  Zig zag. Suzani.  Yes they are trend-a-licious, but they are worthy trends in my book.  Find these fabulous Madeline Weinrib pieces (all pillows except the last image is a rug) DISCOUNTED big time at One King’s Lane.   I think I’m addicted to black and white, and also grey.

Have you purchased from OKL?  What was your experience like?  I haven’t bought anything yet, but I’d heard a rumor of poor customer service.  I’m hoping it is untrue!
